I guess you mean "process number".

If you sent your nationality application to a "Conservatória" in Portugal, you will receive the process number by e-mail a few days (up to a month, but normally within 14 days) after it has been delivered.

In fact, you will receive a process number and an access code, which will allow you to monitor the progress of your application through this site : Justiça.gov.pt | Estado do processo de pedido de nacionalidade (justica.gov.pt)

  • Thankyou for replying , i have submitted my application already and hv received a process no, i just wanted to know if the Conservatoria first verify all the papers and then issue a process no ?. i was just checking as i have submitted my papers long time back and the process is still on the first dot. was wondering the papers that i submitted are all correct.

got it. the process number is assigned before they look at the documents.

Processes of children of Portuguese citizens, normally takes 8-10 months before they evaluate the documents.

The other categories (grandchildren, marriage, etc.), takes about two years to see something happening. until then, your process will be on the first or second dot.

  • Thankyou Eduardo

My mothe birth and marriage is already registered in portugal , and i hv put my papers for citizenship. In this case how much time it generally takes ? I got my process no 1 year back..

It depends on where you sent your application. In the website where you can see your process number, it will say on top where it is being processed (right underneath process number).

If if happens to be the Conservatoria dor Registros Centrais (in Lisboa), it takes longer there. Someone here in the forum may have info on what month they are processing now (depending on type of application - is it 1C application?)

The 8-10 months referred to are for applications (1C) sent to the Arquivo Central do Porto, which is faster than CRC in Lisboa.

  • Thankyou Carlos for your responce on my comment

yes it is 1C, it says Conservatoria dor Registros Centrais
