What is the status of my application for Portuguese citizenship? My name is Arthur Alves Teixeira, and my application code number is 129xx-23.

  • @aateixeira we cannot check your application status, you have to check it for yourself on the official IRN website with the passcode they provided to you, or by calling them.

    https://nacionalidade.justica.gov.pt/

We are not an official Portuguese government website, we ate just a web board where people can discuss about the citizenship application process.

  • Hi Community. I was hoping someone could assist me or direct me to someone that can assist. I applied for Portuguese Citizenship through marriage in Johannesburg. I submitted my application in July 2022 a d received my tracking reference number in October 2022. Since than my ball has been on step 1 and has not moved. I did not receive any communication to advise for outstanding documents. It is 21 months and reading other post some people have already completed the process while others are on step 4, 5 or 6 within same time period. Could someone please direct me where can i enquire about the process and where am i at?

    Thanks

    Mo

  • Dear all,

I would like to know your opinion on this.

My process was started in March 2024, till now its on ball 1, does its goes step by step or from ball 1 to straight ball 4?

I am aware it takes 3plus years to complete the process, however when should I expect my process to move ahead?

Looking forward to hear from you all expertise and experience wonderful people.

    Thank you.

  • @Robin usually it stays on step (ball) 1 for two and half years or more, then it starts moving to ball 2, then 3, then 4 and jumps to 6 or 7.

  • Thank you for your feedback @LeoSantos.

  • i have a question my process shows in the new system the tick marks on first 2 balls and shows a pencil in the 3rd ball what stage is this on. does this mean all my documents are verified and it awaits for a decision to dispacth my document.

    thanks in advance

  • @ashleycolaco please note that they made a real mess while replacing the system, so the results any reliable so far, you should probably wait a week or two to be able to really see what's going on with your process.

That said, the 3rd 'ball' means they arr waiting for the answer of the external entities, like AIMA to proceed with your process.

  • Hello guys,

Sorry my portuguese is bad. Today I saw my status and it says, Em alguma das fases de tramitação, foi requisitado ao requerente alguma informação ou documento extra que ainda não foi enviado. não recebi qualquer e-mail ou carta. Tentei ligar e enviar email e nada de resposta. O que posso fazer agora? Por favor, ajude.

  • @pillowfight from the screenshot you posted, it shows your case is awaiting decision.

Where does it say the text you posted? Please note that the text that appears when you hover the circle "i" letter, is just informative text to explain what each step means.

  • @LeoSantos olá leão, este é o meu estado. nunca recebi qualquer e-mail ou carta. liguei para o número várias vezes e sem sucesso. Também escrevi um e-mail hoje. O que posso fazer?

  • @pillowfight

You should probably call the registry line (linha de registos):

    Linha de Registos: +351 211 950 500

Press 1 when prompted, then 1 again.

I don't know if they can speak english or not there, so you probably wanna have google translator or something when calling. Better yet if you have someone who actually speaks Portuguese to call with you.

I don't know your timezone, but they start taking calls at 9am (Lisbon time) until 5pm there. Earlier you call, the better.

It can be very busy there, so be prepared to spend up to 1 or 2 hours on the phone, and if it hangs, just keep trying.

They can give accurate status of your application and explain what happened.

    Good luck

  • @LeoSantos Thanks. But now my status changed, it no longer asks for it. Really weird system they have.

  • @pillowfight yea, I thought something was weird with your status, that's why I asked for more info.

Anyway, glad everything worked out for you.

    Good luck

  • Hi Guys Good Morning, does anyone know how long more will this take ? i need your advise, as my lawyer says that it will take as its a special case, quick note in the old system it had moved to the brown ball #(6) December 2nd of 2023 after that there has not been any moment at all, when the new system came into place it showed decision till date. spoke to the lawyer again 2 days ago and she said to wait,

  • My process is via atribuição can anyone explain in this table which category i belong to ?

  • editado February 8

    @ashleycolaco

Depends. Did you applied as a child or a grandchild of a Portuguese citizen?

If you sent by mail as a child it's the first row (1c Transcrição).

If you delivered your papers as a child in person on Conservatória it's the second row (1c SIRIC)

If you delivered in person on a Portuguese consulate it's the 3rd row

If sent by mail as a grandchild it's the 4th row (1d)

If you have 18yo or more than you are in "Maiores" category, if less than 18y you are in "Menores"

  • @ecoutinho

Thanks for your responce , i still have a doubt , i had mail my document to crc , but i also incuded a translated birth certificate of mine to portuguese which i got it notarized and appostiled . do i still fall under Transcrição ?

  • editado February 9

@ashleycolaco Your process is by grandchild or child of portuguese citizen (Article 1D or 1C respectively ) ?

    Which country are you from?

  • @ashleycolaco

Yes, still fall in this category. "Transcrição" it's not related to the translation of your original birth certificate but to the fact that, if your citizenship application is approved, they will issue a Portuguese birth certificate based on the information from a foreign birth certificate and a declaration that you want to be a Portuguese citizen (the form 1c or 1d).

  • Hi , My sisters process from India was sent to Lisbon and received on 8th October. If I call the line, are there English speaking agents?

  • Dear Community, Good Morning, does anyone know how long more will this take? • @karenrebello, my process is also from 2021, and it also went "para decisao" on the same date as your sisters - 29/09/2024. It looks like there's a bunch of us. And no, to my knowledge, no-one speaks english in the helpline, I am afraid. You can try calling and asking though. I called them last week and they told me my process was still being analysed :(

  • @unknownghost

I wouldn't expect anything happening before the application ages 4 years, unfortunately.

  • @unknownghost ,

You didn't say which article is in your case. But apparently is for some kind of naturalization because your status says "towards minister", which means is waiting for minister's approval. And depending of the complexity of your case, it may take longer. In any case your process is within the current times.

  • @karenrebello ,

If you call LR, most likely there will be no speaking English agents answering your call, but of course you can try, who knows... You can also send an email to: registos.centrais@irn.mj.pt (inform your name, date of birth and process number). If you can translate to Portuguese, it would be better, but if not send in English any way. Maybe they will answer, it doesn't hurt to try.

  • @texaslady thank you for the update hopefully this year , the article is 6 n 6 that what i was told by the lawyer

  • @texaslady why do you say it is with ministers? Where does this say that ?
