Need help tracking a nationality application. Heard nothing back from Portuguese authorities.
Hi I applied for Portuguese nationality in London because my parents are both Portuguese. I can't speak Portuguese. I applied last year and heard nothing back. I was told to email registro(dot)centrais(at)irn.mj.pt but they never reply. I tried calling on the phone number they gave which was +351 211 950 500 but I can never get through to anyone. I didn't receive any pin or any number. What is the best way to get hold of them?

@sunx As you applied for nationality at the Consulate/Embassy, there will be no PIN to track the application and you will have to try to get information at the Consulate itself or call the registration line in Portugal (always try early in the morning). If you had sent it to a Registry Office in Portugal, they usually send the PIN by email within a few weeks.
Hi, I am also in the same Boat. I have applied for Registration through the Consulate in Goa, on 13th December 2025, but still havent received the Tracking Number. The Consulate says they have no information after the Documents are being sent to conservatoria dos Registos & to contact them directly.
Any help is much appreciated
@jfernandes123 afaik you don't get a tracking number, unfortunately :(
You have to keep in mind that your application is probably going to take 4+ years until they reach a decision.
Best shot at obtaining some info is to call the registry line:

Try to have someone who speaks Portuguese with you or be lucky and get a person who speaks English on the line.
LeoSantos I presume Art 1C applications take far lesser time looking at the content of the Spreadsheet?
@jfernandes123 It does take less time, but only when you apply sending docs directly to ACP Porto or to a CRC other than Lisbon. When you apply through a consulate, it takes longer because the documents need to be sent to Lisbon, and consulates usually send them in batches, which slows everything down. All applications from consulates worldwide are sent to Lisbon, so the process takes much longer because all those citizenship cases are handled there. That’s why yours doesn’t have any tracking number, and it will take around four years or more, as mentioned.
Process Status at CRC @Sukita1914 as of Oct 2025?
I see, but you have to keep in mind that April 2024 is the date the documents were registered at the Lisbon CRC, not the date people have submitted them to the Consulate. Consulates can take months, sometimes even a year, to send documents to Lisbon, and once they arrive it may still take some time before they’re registered. So to be honest, it’s basically like being blindfolded when you start a process through a Consulate. Sorry to say that, but you will have to be patient.
