Need Portuguese Lawyer for IRN follow-up

Hi members,

Im struggling with the IRN to conclude my birth registration process which has been ongoing for more than 7 years. Since March 2025 i have been sending several follow up emails, almost 20 for the update yet they remain least bothered to respond. My lawyer who submitted my case has ghosted me. There is no channel to complain. The IRN/CRC has got all the verification that was pending consular very yet they have not taken any action to complete my case which has been pending for ever. I would appreciate anyone who could follow up with the IRN to ensure they complete my process and don't leave my case pending. I have no one to go to and hope someone here and help me with the IRN/CRC. Thanks. Ronald

  • @ronxav according to this site rules, we cannot reffer any lawyer to you, we are sorry.

What we can do is help you understand what's going on with your request and possible solutions.

Do you have the code to check online the status of your application?

  • @LeoSantos I only have my process number, not the code. I'm having a tough time trying to get an update, my lawyer is saying IRN is not responding and when I try to reach IRN on various emails, they just ignore. Is there a way to get a real time update on my case with the process number? Thanks

  • @ronxav the best way you could get some up to date info, is calling the IRN registry line on the phone.

We have a written guide on how to call them, you can read here (use google translate):

    https://forum.cidadaniaportuguesa.com/discussion/23737/obter-informacoes-sobre-o-andamento-do-processo-linha-registos

You have to call them on Portugal business hours (9am to 5pm there), sooner you call the better, so you have to figure out what time is best for you.

Since international calls might be expensive, you might wanna use some app to call them (skype used to work wonders, but now it's discontinued) try viber or talk360.

You'll need a little luck to get someone who speaks English on line, if you know someone who can speak Portuguese to help you that's even better.

When you talk to them, try to get a code to check your application online, that way you don't need to call them every time you need to know the status of your application.

That's it, I hope I could help you, good luck.
